The factors that would influence defoamer performanceanti-foam

An auxiliary agent capable of suppressing foaming, breaking bubbles, and defoaming is called an antifoaming agent. An important indicator of the quality of defoamers is the length of defoaming time. There are many types of defoamers, such as silicone, mineral oil, high carbon alcohol, polyether, and compounding. Defoamers are oily and watery, and different defoamers are used in different industries.
In the production process of many industries (such as textile printing and dyeing, pulp and paper, paint, water treatment, building materials industry, metalworking fluid, industrial cleaning, etc.), a large amount of foam is often generated due to stirring, vibration, boiling, etc., if not Properly inhibited, the bubble will bring a lot of trouble to the production, such as affecting the normal production, reducing the amount of equipment payload, resulting in product quality and production capacity decline. In order to eliminate and inhibit foam, the most effective and economical and simple method is to add defoamer. The following is a brief introduction to the factors affecting the performance of defoamer.

Dispersion of defoamer in solution

The dispersion state and surface properties of the antifoaming agent in the solution significantly affect other defoaming properties. The defoaming agent should have a suitable degree of dispersion and particle diameter, and the particle is too large or too small to affect its defoaming activity.

Compatibility of defoamers in foaming systems

When the surfactant is completely dissolved in the aqueous solution, it tends to be aligned at the gas-liquid interface of the foam to stabilize the foam. When the surfactant is in an insoluble state or a supersaturated state, the particles are dispersed in the solution and aggregated on the foam, that is, function as an antifoaming agent.

The temperature of the foaming system environment

The temperature of the foaming liquid also affects the performance of the defoaming agent. When the temperature of the foaming liquid itself is relatively high, it is recommended to use a special high-temperature defoaming agent, because if a common defoaming agent is used, the defoaming effect will be greatly reduced, and even more, the defoaming agent will directly Demulsification.

Packaging, storage, transportation

The defoamer is suitable for storage at 5~35°C, and should not be placed near the heat source or exposed to sunlight. According to the general chemical storage method, the seal is ensured after use to avoid deterioration.

Defoamer usage

The addition of the stock solution and the addition after dilution are somewhat biased and are not scaled proportionally. After the diluted defoaming agent becomes lower in surfactant concentration, the emulsion is extremely unstable, and the delamination failure is rapid, and the defoaming performance is relatively poor, and it is not suitable for long-term storage. It is recommended to use immediately after dilution. Or add thickening water to ensure the stability of the diluent. The addition ratio of defoamer is required by the customer to pass the test in the field. Not as much as possible, pay attention to the appropriate benefits, and should not be excessive.

Defoamer Test Method

Defoamer testing methods are divided into dynamic defoaming and static defoaming tests. If your foaming environment is different, the recommended test methods are different. There are three main types of foam experiments to characterize the activity of defoamers. Persistence. As we have different experimental conditions in different laboratories and the experiments used in our research to obtain results from existing literature, we will introduce these experiments below. Other methods are sometimes used depending on the particular application. 1. Ross-Miles Foam Tester   Features: Tested for strong foaming environments. This experiment is widely used for characterization        (1) Foaming of surfactant solution        (2) Research and application of foam stability in the presence of defoamer In the foaming system, the defoaming performance test was carried out by circulating bubbling by a Ros...

How to control foam and defoaming in the papermaking ?

Foam is always a thorny issue in the pulp&paper industry. Foaming reasons   Once liquid which contain a surfactant or this kind of liquid having a large viscosity is agitated, a large amount of foam which is not easily disappeared is often produced. The reasons why these bubbles are more stable and not easy to disappear are as follows: n   Film elasticity The ability of the liquid film to resist local thinning during the general thinning process is film elasticity. When the liquid film has a thin point, this point is a possible breakage. However, when this is further stretched, the surfactant molecules in this part will be more reduced, and the increase in surface tension will result in a force imbalance, and the surrounding surface will be moved toward a thin point to balance the surface. tension. The movement of the surface layer pulls the liquid of the lower layer together, thus preventing further thinning of the initial weakness and, in turn, foam ruptu...

Why is there bubble in sewage treatment? What are the hazards of these bubbles? How to eliminate these bubbles?

Why is there bubble in sewage treatment? What are the hazards of these bubbles? How to eliminate these bubbles? In the process of sewage treatment, I believe that everyone often encounters a large amount of foam in the biochemical pool, and if it is at rest, it will overflow from the pool, causing serious pollution of the external pool wall of the external equipment, which will deteriorate the operating conditions. Affected  the surrounding environment Type of foam in sewage treatment 1.    Initial bubble In the initial stage of aeration tank start, the sludge in the aeration tank is not suitable for the water quality of the sewage, and is not suitable for the growth environment, and foam is easily formed. As the sludge adapts to water quality, the foam will decrease. At the beginning of the aeration tank start-up, the sludge is relatively small, the sludge load is high, and foam is easily generated. After the amount of sludge increases, the foam will gradua...
